Our Costa Rica travel experts have designed a convenient way to enjoy the Arenal Volcano region, with its hot springs and rainforest, as well as the Pacific beaches, featuring a stay at the award-winning Punta Islita Resort on the Pacific Coast or a similar hotel type in the beaches of the Nicoya Peninsula.
Day 1: Arrive at the San Jose International Airport. Your driver will meet you as you exit the airport to start the 2½ hour drive to the Arenal region. Enjoy the ride up the northern mountains of the Central Valley to the city of San Ramon, then down towards the flatlands of San Carlos, enjoying picturesque, quaint towns along the way. Check into your Arenal Volcano Region Hotel and then take the rest of the afternoon and evening to enjoy the hot springs resort and explore the region.
Day 2 & 3: Enjoy the Arenal Volcano region. Optional activities include hot springs resorts, spa treatments, tour on horseback or hike to La Fortuna Waterfall, Class III white water rafting in the Sarapiqui River, floating safari, canyoning, lake kayaking, hikes in the Hanging Bridges Tour, Sky Trek / Tram canopy tour, hikes in the Arenal Volcano National Park, and touring the Venado Caves.
Day 4: At approximately 9:00 AM, board the van and start the drive to the beaches of the Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste. Check into your secluded beach hotel and relax under the sun.
Day 5 to 7: Enjoy your Guanacaste boutique beach hotel. Optional tours include snorkeling, surfing lessons, deep sea fishing, horseback riding, and spa.
Day 8: Check out of the hotel and board the van for your short transfer to the local airport. Board the flight back to San Jose. Upon landing, the driver will take you to the San Jose International Airport and your return flight home. |
