Day 1: Arrive at the San Jose International Airport. A contact person will pick you up in the customs area and take you to meet your driver. Board the van for the 2½ drive to the Arenal Volcano region. This ride takes you up the mountains to the fertile region of San Ramon and on to the San Carlos flatlands, home to some of Costa Rica's top agricultural products, including oranges, papayas and cassava. Arrive in the Arenal Volcano region and check in to your hotel. Consider a visit to one of the renowned hot springs resorts in the evening (included in packages with stays at Tabacon Grand Spa).
Days 2 and 3: Free day in Arenal. Optional tours include hiking the Arenal Hanging Bridges and the Arenal Volcano National Park, horseback riding to the Fortuna Waterfalls, safari floats, boat tours in the Cano Negro Wildlife Reserve, two canopy zip line adventures, canyoneering, three rivers for white water rafting, tours on ATVs, mountain bikes and caving. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 4: Check out of the hotel and board the van for your adventurous transfer to Monteverde. After a short drive to Lake Arenal, enjoy a 15-minute boat ride across these tranquil waters, followed by a ride up the mountains to the cloud forest. Witness the changes in vegetation and climate as you ascend from 900 meters to 1600 meters above sea level. Check in to your hotel and start exploring this breathtaking region.
Day 5: Free day in the Cloud Forest. Optional tours include the Selvatura Nature Paks, the Sky Adventures (Tram / Trek / Walk), coffee tours, animal exhibits and hikes in the National Parks. Overnight in Monteverde.
