Rios Tropicales, a clean energy, sustainable lodge located along the Pacuare River, is a haven for relaxation and immersion in tropical sights and sounds. It is the first ecolodge built on the Pacuare and the only one powered with hydro-generated electricity, a clean sustainable energy source.

Rios Tropicales lodge is located on a 1500-acre private reserve at the mouth of the Pacuare Gorge, inside the Pacuare protected zone. The private reserve borders the indigenous Cabecar Indian Reserve and contains more than 40 miles of hiking trails and numerous waterfalls, streams and pools. The Lodge is accessible via hiking trails or rafting the Pacuare River.

Accommodations, set on the mountainside, offering fantastic views of the river and dense rain forest, range from rustic bunkhouses to luxury rooms. All offer private bathrooms, hot showers, electricity, and decks with great views. All reservations include three meals daily, cocktails, hor d'oeuvres, naturalist tours, hiking, waterfalls and pools to soak in, and a zipline. Longer stays also allow for horseback riding, sustainable and tilapia farm tours, and tree planting.

Nearby excursions include Turrialba Volcano, CATIE Botanical Garden, Lankester Gardens, Espino Blanco Forest Reserve, coffee, macadamia nut, and sugarcane plantations, Lost City of Guyabo, Basilica of Cartago, Braulio Carrillo, Irazu Volcano, and whitewater rafting on Pacuare River or Pejibaye River.
